Experience
Classroom experience teaching Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus (special emphasis on trigonometry), and Calculus. One-on-one teaching experience in all of the above, as well as College Algebra, Statistics, and elementary math and reading (long division, etc.). SAT, ACT, and STARR prep experience. If you work with me, I will expect you to come prepared with all the required books for your class. If we're working on math, you may find that we end up not always working directly on your current classwork, particularly if I feel that you are weak in a core concept from previous math courses. This is because math constantly builds upon itself, and if you missed something along the way, you will find understanding things in later courses to be much more difficult. Regardless of the subject in which I am tutoring, my primary goal with each student is to help you discover the unique way that you learn the best. For example, I don't learn/retain as well in a lecture style environment. I learn much better from books and illustrations. Once you discover your best learning practices, you will find every course to be ten times easier.

Hobbies
Howdy! Yes, I wear cowboy boots most of the time. I have a nine year old daughter who you may run into on occasion. She is pretty outgoing, and just tells it like she sees it, which can be rather hilarious at times. I have taught high school algebra/geometry, pre-calculus, and calculus, and I have tutored ex-marines in college algebra. I worked in student affairs for Texas Tech for a decade, and during half of that time, I mentored freshmen and advised other mentors through the Mentor Tech program. You can find my last protege, Saba Nafees, on MSNBC (http://tinyurl.com/saba-msnbc) and more recently in the news here (or just Google her): http://tinyurl.com/saba-nepal
