Education
I have a current teaching credential in secondary sciences and a Bachelor's degree from UCSB in Biological Anthropology. I have been teaching in high school and middle school in a classroom setting for the last 12 years. My focus has been teaching IB Biology at the standard and higher level but I have taught all sciences at the middle school and high school level.
Experience
As an IB Biology teacher I can help students both with the content of the IB courses and with their Individual Investigations as well as their Extended Essay. I have tutored privately in all sorts of subjects from general organization and time management to geometry, history, reading and writing. I have helped students of all ages, students with learning disabilities and students who need either a different explanation or help with organizing information. I have also worked in the Sylvan Learning Center tutoring in all subjects including study skills and speed reading. Although I love classroom teaching, it rarely gives me the time for the one on one tutoring that I enjoy the most. My students would characterize me as passionate about teaching and learning, patient and easy going with a penchant for bad science puns. I really enjoy the connection I can make with students through teaching and learning. The best compliment that I receive from students is that I make learning fun.
